Arcoora is engaged in maintenance and development of the buildings and grounds through an ecological, artistic and ‘village-minded’ lens.
We are building market-gardens according to ‘syntropic’ agriculture principles, food forests and sculpture gardens
Our campground will be upgraded to include new composting toilets, solar-hot water showers and an undercover camp kitchen with a wood-fired pizza oven
Certain sites within the grounds are being specifically designed to host ceremonial activities such as group yarning circles, music and dance rituals and celebrations, sweat lodges, ‘sit spots’ and vision quests
These initiatives are sustained by our volunteer program and focused skill-share action gatherings
The Gonpa building is the central feature of these grounds. The majestic yet rustic 20 x 10m hall will hold a seated congregation of 200+ people and is an excellent timber floor space for dance, yoga and other embodiment practices. The hall acoustics are ideal for theatre performances, sound meditations, singing and instrumental music.
Restoration of the Gonpa building is a core objective of the Arcoora initiative. The restoration project will be crowd-funded as our first major development work in late 2019
ARTIST PATRONAGE FOR CABIN RENOVATIONS
Our cabins are available for writers and artists in residence. These small spaces require some renovation and tender loving care. Our vision is to launch a patron-funded artist-in-residence program. The sponsored artists will collaborate with the Arcoora team to enhance the aesthetics and functional up-grades of the cabins. Stay tuned for the launch of this program in 2020.
