ARCOORA INITATIVES
Arcoora participates in projects and actions that are reweaving healthy systems in our bioregion. We offer experiential training and community outreach initiatives to support capacity building in regenerative agriculture, ecosystem restoration and culturally regenerative projects. Arcoora participates in global networks that inform, invigorate and inspire our work, providing organised channels for storytelling and skill sharing.
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN 2024?
Ecosystem Restoration Communities - Arcoora hosted Australia’s first official ERC camp in 2021, with more camps scheduled for 2023, our commitment to participating in a global standard and leading edge of ecosystem restoration.
Regenerative Agriculture - Arcoora has partnered with Growing Roots to offer training programs that integrate agroforestry, market gardening, inter-cropping, permaculture and ecological succession geared towards high productivity as well as social and ecological restoration.
The Grass Tree Fellowship - Arcoora is hosting the final retreat of a 3-month leadership training program delivered by Conservation Volunteers Australia, which aims to support individuals and groups who are taking action to create stronger, healthier communities and ecosystems for all. Multiple members of the Arcoora team are participating in the training.
Kyogle Food Hub - Arcoora is working to establish a food hub in the Kyogle LGA to support local food producers and consumers on a path to local food sovereignty.
Nature Connection Camps - Arcoora has partnered with Gondwana Bushcraft to offer specialised learning programs that weave together indigenous knowledge, natural living skills and rites of passage for men, women and children.
Djedi Training Program - Arcoora’s residential volunteer program offers experience in collaborative leadership, team building and healthy lifestyle practices
K.R.I.C - In late 2019 Arcoora partnered with Kyogle Together to reclaim the life of valuable objects through the Kyogle Resource Innovation Collective - reimagining waste as treasure and providing access to affordable materials for our community through the Kyogle Tip Shop.

GONPA RESTORATION
The Gonpa building is the central feature of these grounds. The majestic yet rustic 20 x 10m hall will hold a seated congregation of 200+ people and is an excellent timber floor space for dance, yoga and other embodiment practices. The hall acoustics are ideal for theatre performances, sound meditations, singing and instrumental music.
Restoration of the Gonpa building is a core objective of the Arcoora initiative. The first phase of work was completed in 2023 with all doors painted and rehung on freshly installed and painted door jambs. The next phase to be completed in 2024 is repairing and painting all windows & trims.
