KYOGLE MARKET GARDEN COOPERATIVE

The Kyogle Market Garden Cooperative initiative aims to create a network of market gardens across the Kyogle and Northern Rivers region in NSW, to build resilience through the production of fresh produce using regenerative farming practices throughout the local region.

The cooperative manages and coordinates many small farms and micro holdings into a giant garden/farm/forest that supports best practice land management for individuals, community and nature. It capitalises on economies of scale and scope of larger organisations while remaining flexible, dynamic and creative, enabling small growers to compete with large scale commercial farming models.

With the support of One-Cooperative and Acres & Acres Co-op, Arcoora is developing the collaborative frameworks and resources to empower people from all walks of life to have the opportunity to grow their own business or community income with minimal outlay. Our goal is to use regenerative farming practices and world class innovation to make it financially viable and sustainable for local communities to grow their own food.

WHAT IS A COOPERATIVE?

Co-operatives are organisations owned by members for the benefit of members. They are different from other organisations because their priority is to have a social and economic impact. Co-ops around the world are guided by the Co-Operative Principles,  which include democracy, open and inclusive voluntary membership, concern for community, and education. You can learn more here.
